Well how do you get through your day?

    Do you:
    a) go to all your lectures and any spar time you have spend in the library researching topics which may be of future benefit to you?
    b) pass the time in the pub?
    c) live on boards?
    d) sleep off the hangover from the night before?
    e) other

I generally go to 99% of my lectures, and spend the hours between them doing one of a few possibilities, including:

farting about here on the boards/downloading mp3s and stuff (i love zip disks)

going to the pub (occasionally, not a big fan of drinking during the day)

hang around in the cafeteria with the other wasters :)

Wander into town for better food than the shite they serve in the college

    and so on.

Normally attend a few of my lectures, well those on after 12 anyway. I don't drink during the day, it's too bloody expensive a habit, I learned that in first year...

Normally I get to mess about posint and checking emails during lectures, although most of my time is spent in bed or sitting around a table in the Campus Kitchen talking, drinking coffee and trying to get some assignments done for the next class.

Ohh and occasionally I do some study, but only when I'm very very bored.

In all fairness though the food in the Campus Kitchen is the worst in UCC. Get some sandwiches from the Old Bar or the Mini for gawds sake man. I wouldn't make anybody eat the toasted ones from the Campus Kitchen with the bits of cling film stuck in them

While I doubt anyone could critisise the old bar roll, apart from price of course. The Toasted sandwich can cure almost any hangover!

Plus, since I'm a science student and the campus kitchen being in the science building... it makes sense to hang around there. And the club sandwiches there are excellent!

Death to the mini! And it's ultra small smoking section!

Well all my lectures are either all day long or start early in the morning. So I'm always up early in the morning. I'm quite proud to say that I have gone to college monday to friday since I got here. I don't get hangovers even though I go out every night. We cant do research...... all we do is plan for future Video/sound recordings we are doing.

Library in the morning before my lectures (only way to get a parking space is to be in at the crack of dawn). As for lectures, I go to every single one, with the occasional exception of Histology lecture on thursday (only class for me then) so I can sleep off a night out, or in, whatever the case may be. As for lunches, dont go to the campus kitchen cos its full of nerds, keep away from the mini because the women cant make sandwiches to save their lives, Im not an art student so I cant eat in the bars, so by default I luncheon in the Main, the line of least resistance and all that.
    b) pass the time in the pub? During the day, unless its a major occasion nope.
    c) live on boards? not before 6pm
    d) sleep off the hangover from the night before? I dont usually get bolloxed so hangovers are pretty much a non issue for me
    e) other Work, traffic, sleep, chilling, gaming etc.

Boards, Lectures, Food, Drink, Walking (no bike), Downloading.

Pretty much like munch really, except I have a deep, deep love and respect for CDRs.
Those CD-RW hussies have all sorts of diseases, and can only be poled a 1000 times ;)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,484 ✭✭✭✭Stephen

Yeah I've no access to the lab with CDRWs in it :/

But most of the machines here have 250mb zip drives :)

I must get one for myself, only got a 100meg ultra-slow parallel one at home.

    A number of choices;
    1. Go to the vic to play snooker for the day
    2. Go to the SU to play pool for a while
    3. Go to the pub on campus
    4. Go to the pub in town
    5. Food, and sleep
    6. Lectures last resort really :)

I usually stay in bed till around 1pm, then i go in for the practicals in the labs from 2pm-4pm, while having a few irc sessions minimised of course! My only worry is if i get kicked out i have to say bye bye to broadband :(

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,621 ✭✭✭Panda

College life in general is spent socialising and sleeping.

If you're talking about in the campus, theres socialising and theres sleeping and then theres the boards.
    which own meh pants.
And since i have a final exam in approx. 2 hours from now that might give you some indication. :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,563 ✭✭✭leeroybrown

I go to most of my lectures. I only have about 20 hours including labs these days (a big reduction from first years 35 - laugh you Arts people may) so its worth while going to most of them.

The rest of my time I should spend working on my FYP, but I generally end up in a computer Lab (always the same lab) browsing the web, using IRC, posting to bulletin boards, downloading, Computer Society stuff, playing CS and generally I end up talking to friends.

Other activities include visits to the pub, eating and mornings sleeping off hangovers or catching up on sleep lost reading the night before.

    back to the topic...

a)play lan games in between lectures. lately we have been warned about our practices so next year there is an idea floating around to start some sort of a gaming society...

b)go to the library and sit there reading(looking at preety pictures) from the massive art book collection that we have. the renaisance period is quite nifty due to the high content of nudity. and if it's really really boring, dig into the DVD collection that the library possesses. nice.

c)make a half arsed attempt at studying and at all costs avoid the canteen area.
