From article: In addition, the report reveals Ireland to be the only EU country not to have launched any DSL lines or to have unbundled a single local loop.
Ireland is becoming known as a technology backwater.

That's not actually true. In Spain, DSL is being offered since 2 ½ years ago, but then Local Loop hasn't been unbundled yet. They were negotiating since months ago, but still no actual loop is being used by any other telco.

In relation to what matter to us, they had broadband since ages, 256/128 - no caps ADSL @ IR£30.00 (vat inc), 512/128 - no caps ADSL @ IR£60.00 (vat inc), 1 mb/256 - no caps ADSL @ IR£110.00 (vat inc), and 2mb/512 - no caps ADSL @ IR£170.00 (vat inc).

    Lucky them.

and the reputation of Eircom's leased lines performance as one of the worst in the EU

    excuse me whilst I snigger.

But on a more serious note, can't the government read between the lines and see that if aservice aimed at businesses is so poor that this would put many businesses off setting up in this country??
