Excellent article in todays Guardian on various broadband and wireless techologies (VDSL, ADSL, 802.11a/b/g) and the effect WANs may have on 3G rollout

By the end of next year, it expects to offer VDSL (Very high bit-rate DSL) with download speeds of up to 14 megabits per second - 28 times faster - and more than 50mbps is achievable. In the US, Qwest Communications is already installing VDSL in some areas, though it is only offering 1mbps.

I'm drooling on my keyboard.... (pity I may not see this in Ireland in my lifetime at this rate)
