Setting up a p0rn site

    A mate of mine, (no, seriously, it is a mate, not me) is thinking of setting up a p0rn site & has asked me to get involved with him, as in he puts up the cash & I do the front end for him in return for a profit share.

    Does anyone know what the liabilities would be ? Is it illegal in Ireland etc ?

    Hmm I was gonna do that before, don't know much about the legalities of the whole thing but I suppose you could just pose as an entertainment company or something.
    There are also loads of hosts that specialise in hosting adult websites so they might have all that end sorted out.

    Maybe you could get onto the webmasters of other pr0n sites and ask them a few questions. Great excuse for looking at pr0n all day :D

    About the legalities however, I'm pretty sure that you are allowed to run a site like this from ireland (if not just move to amsterdam or something). However, you will have a little trouble with the law if you try to host the site in Ireland. If you are just having playboy type pics (irish version) then I'm pretty sure thats legal, but obviously whats illegal for magazines will more than likely be illegal for having on your computer. Don't ask me about the technicalities of how they prosecute people and how they even find out about people having porn because I dont know. This poses a problem in that when you are updating the site you are more than likely going to have some porn on your own computer and if the fuzz decide to watch you closely (not sure how likely that is) you could be risking a lot.

    But like enygma says ask other porn webmasters, and even the fuzz themselves and check out the legalities, and if anyone raises an eyebrow, just let them know that there is a lot of money to be made from a well made porn site. Best of luck to ya.
