Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

This can be done by the following method.
    Take a holiday home.
Order a sky digital instalation and time your visit for that.
Set up an Irish Sky Subscription from your Irish address and pay the Sub out of your Irish bank a/c.
Don't let the installer put up the mini dish-just go to a friends / relations house who have Sky digital plug in the box the installer gave you and ring sky to activate the card.
Actually bring the Sky installer with you to do that and give him an extra few Euro's for his trouble.
When the card is activated at whatever sub you've chosen-You can go back to Germany with the gear and get a local installer there to install it for you and bingo-You have all the Sky channels including BBC and ITV you want over in Germany! :)
You may need a bigger dish there which will cost you extra-but worth the effort-Especially when RTE one and Network two will be on it from April and more to follow.
Read Charles Slane's Thread on how to Tune in ITV and it will also show you how to get Fox News.
Regarding other US channels-Believe me there will be enough on Sky for you :)
    mm
Oh and keep your eye on this forum for the latest developments, regarding the arrival of RTE/TV3 etc on Sky digital.

As of yet there are no Irish terrestrials on sky but RTE,Network2 and possibly TV3 are coming soon. All English terrestrials are available with a subscription[BBC is on EPG,you have to tune in ITV manually].As for US tv-there are US news channels like Fox News,CNN[a mix of European and US broadcast news]and CNBC[also a 50:50 US/Euro channel].There arent really any major US entertainment networks available though.Other channels direct from the US are Hallmark[mainly dramas]and the Spice pay per view porn channel,as well as some shopping networks.Thats about all the US tv available

    Danny,
I'm living in Germany too. I found the easiest way to get the UK channels was to buy a Sky digibox from eBay with a free-to-air viewing card in it.

I must admit the whole thing was a lot easier than I thought. Mind you, if you get the box from the UK, you will not be able to get the Irish channels in March.

I have a second, Irish box as I arranged a Sky subscription through my mother.

    Cheers,

    Stephen

    Jimbob,

Getting the box from eBay was a dream - much easier than I thought. I got it on my second attempt... I was outbid on the first box.

The box I got is an Amstrad, and I ended up paying 111 quid sterling + 27 quid postage & packing. The guy's nickname on ebay is "Fairziff", and he often has digiboxes.

The only problem was with payment, as he doesn't accept credit cards. In the end, I did an international transfer via Internet banking.

Once he got the payment, he sent the box straight away. He packed it really well and I got it within a week. Everything was in it, including batteries for the remote. The box was even in its original box!

All I had to do was connect it up, as the card was working anyway.

When I connected it up, Channels 4 & 5 were working immediately. I had to wait a few hours for the BBC channels to be activated (but I think this is standard).

I must say, the box was in mint condition. The only way you would know that it is secondhand is that the remote has a slight scratch on it (but I think I can live with that :) ).

Let me know if you have any more questions.

    Cheers,

    Stephen
