The higher the value of the note, the bigger the note physically is.

    Euro Coins
There are eight euro coins, ranging in size from 1 Cent to 2 Euro. The Euro coins have a common side, no matter what country they are minted in. The other side of the coin will have a different appearance, depending on the country it was minted in.
    Irish Euro coins:

The gold stuff comes off the middle of the €2 coin

I personally they tried to save as much money as possible making this euro

the coins are pretty low quality and I'm sure that the notes arent much better.

    they still look crap

I wonder how long it takes for the hologram thingy to come off the fiver

The euro notes are supposed to be some of the most advanced in the world, security-wise. They have a number of different security features, and the higher denominations have even more than the lesser notes.

    * 5 minutes later *

heh, I've just scratched at that 2 euro coin with a key for a minute or two. No sign of the "gold stuff" coming off.

I haven't tried this, but I'm told that if you freeze the €2 coin, you can then click out the middle (gold-ey) bit...

...although why you'd want to do that, I'm not quite sure.

The great old wive's tales, like freezing callcards to get more units.... How daft was that?

€2 coins are grand and handy, i think, why did we not have them before now?

I hate all the Euro coins and notes.

THe coins look all the same and the 50c aren't polygon shaped which will be hard to get used to.

And all the notes are the same size.

We're becoming more like the Americans everyday. Tomorrow we'll be claiming we invented everything. :)

The notes are NOT all the same size. The bigger its value, the bigger the note.

Yeah the coins all look the same except for the big numeric fookin value on them. I fail to see how you can confuse a 50c and a 20c coin, unless you're blind. Even then, the 20c has notches and stuff on its side, so it feel different :p
