    OH YES IT IS!!

    HE'S BEHIND YOU!

I'm not saying its wrong to have rap guests on some metal songs... but its the way the nu-metal bands use it on EVERY song on their albums. Its just not original... even though they may say it is.

id really appreciate if you read through my full post instead of pick and mixing. thats what nu-metal is.
its a mixture of rapping and heavy guitar riff, call it what you want, but at the moment its the 'most popular' type of guitar orientated music.
who ever said metal wsa original. hell the beatles and jimi hendrix were doing stuff 35 years ago that no bands today can even touch on.
as for your death metals and all that, are you really telling me that theres massive differences in every song?

im glad you give your seal of approval for nbands to 'allow' guest rappers. i can hear a huge collective sigh of relief from the music community....
Secondly... Aerosmith? Metal? LMAO!! ... you gotta be kidding...

    oh sorry there.
i forgot you are the almight administrator of music who classifies every band and musician into how much inner lobe damage can be done during a song.
anything under 3 gallons of blood are probably not worth much in your eyes.
i suppose aerosmith, being a non-threatening band are probably not worthy to be titled metal. hmmm.
    i wonder what the are?
lets see, lots of guitars, fast riffs, lots of screaming, hey, the obligatory guitar solo even. sounds like good ol rock music to me.
oh, you mean metal is differnt
lets look at metal shall we?
lets see, lots of guitars, fast riffs, lots of screaming, hey, the obligatory guitar solo even
yep, i can see the difference already, thanks for pointing that one out. imagine i embaressed myself publically by thinking there was a major difference!

im so glad youve shown me the erorr of my ways and i will now rush out and buy any suggested albums as i obviously know so little about music.

after all, being from the country i suppose you porobably dont know about sophistication and culture.
oops! there i go catogorising someone because they live outside the pale. naughty me, but hey, theyre your rules, arent they?

    get the point?

and is it just me or did Bruxelles seat more people before they screwed around with the decor (and I use the word decor very, very loosely)

Erm .... It seated more people, but you were crammed into those seats and couldn't move if any more than 3 people were sitting around ye. But its bigger now in general since they knocked down that wall (where the toilets are now).

oh thats good, get me to walk up to every bloke and call him a Lemming - watch me get smacked around, highly amusing eh?

dont worry, in bruxelles I am like God, not everywhere, just rarely seen :)

Right seen as this thread is mainly about images now I think I'll throw my input.

Theres about three generalized groups in Dublin

Norms - Me, sports liking people, pop kids etc
Skangers - I think we all have a fair idea
Temple Barer's - A mixture of Goths, metalheads and all those highly intellectual guys in Korn\slipknot\limp bizkit etc tops who act depressed and apparently hate the world

Who's the biggest group and who's the smallest?

if you want amusement, why dont you call every bloke in there a Lemming?

Amusement something funny but only when its happening to other people!

yeah so anyway, back to some real music issues....

I cried when I heard that Steps split up.
Thank god for popstars though, it's great to see the cream of Irish musical talent getting their big break.

well, you can slag of steps and popstars, and i think a lot of people here would agree with you.
yeah, we all hate steps, and s-club 7 and west life and take that yeah kill em all!
but it does just go to show how many people are caged intheir thinking.
to them music is only accessable if it fit s the right sort of image or criteria.

eventually people grow out of it when they eventually admit they like other music and that yeah, really, the new westlife song is catchy.....

    dont be so close minded.
i think ive spelt it out fairly straight forward.

the past had great music. but if you bothered to take your head out of the sand youd see there is good music all around.
i will put it down to the fact that you are young and have no idea really of what you are talking about.

go back to your cage. you are safe there. god forbid, you might lose your image and accidentily like a britany spears song.

you cant even read what is put before you in writing.

as mike muir from suicidal tendencies says, dont mistake what you hear with what is said.
that means think about what you hear or read.

hmm, so whats youtr take on apocalyptica?
i mean, its 4 chellos, classical musical instraments.
    but they do play metallica.

theres a bit of a quandry for you.
or even S&M. metallica with an orchestra?

what little catagory do you put those into? or will you make one up?
It's going to take a lump hammer to get this one driven home....

    sad isnt it?!

Actually ... Apocalyptica also have an album (their second one) which has half the songs are metallica (including an Oh-so-f*cking-amazing cover of "one" which I'll tell yo uabout in a second - bear with me), the other half are all Pantera, Sepultura, etc. and are DAMN good.

As for S&M (and Apocalyptica for that matter too), does anyone have ANY idea of how difficult it is to play metal-music using a classical string instrument? I've been playing Viola for 16/17 years, I was in an orchestra for about 12, and I've tried to play that kinda sh*t. Believe me .. the skill required is phenominal!!

Back to the apocalyptica cover of "one". I bought it on tour with my orchestra in germany, and myself and a mate sat through "one" about 4 times to determine whether or not the solo was the original guitar solo dubbed in, or a cello - it was THAT good. It was in fact a cello, and it was note-for-note perfect!!

I thought I had answered this earlier. Obviously you have'nt taken any of it in. So I'll say it again. I HAVE LISTENED TO ALL MAINSTREAM NU METAL BANDS! That includes Korn, Limp Bizkit, Papa Roach, Slipknot, Linkin Park you name it... So don't tell me I don't know anything about the music.

I'll admit that I haven't heard any of their stuff but youre totally going off the subject. I'm on about nu-metal.

Yes and No. I mean, I can see where you're comign frmo here porNapster in thinking that he's going off the topic, but at the same time, I don't think he is really.

Nu-metal is metal from another angle/point of view(I'll use that statement VERY loosely, so bear with me).

So is Apocalyptica. It's different. It's metal with a classical sound to it. Stuff like Limp Bizkit et al. is metal with a hip-pop/rap feel to it, so both are new(ish) innovations(again .. not the correct wording to use here) in terms of metal music.

Apocalyptica have never labelled their music as "metal" though have they?

They haven't had to. Look at the artwork on their albums, look at the songlists, its pretty obvious.

And as if on cue as I'm writing this, the apocalyptica vesion of "Refuse Resist" has just started playign on my winamp list :D

Metal is like the matrix. No one can tell you what it is you gotta see(hear) it for yourself. or something.

As for the person who was asking why fibbers charges in..... well most clubs do. Personally I think its to discourage people who aint gonna spend money on drink in the place. I know when I was a student I used to sneak a half bottle of vodka in and jump through hoops to get there before charge in.

Ah what an age-old debate. 'My metal is better than your metal'. You don't hear little girls moaning that westlife aren't true pop do you? I couldn't be arsed making a point, cos someone's gonna try prove me wrong even if God himself told me the true meaning of metal. "I don't believe in God...." :D:rolleyes:

Loads of people here go to Brux - you have to know my best mate Toner. Small, mad looking guy, always hammered and talking shíte? :)
