Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    damnentities.jpg

I hope it'll be fairly obvious from the image - how do I stop the entities behind other entities from disappearing?

(The pieces shown are func_wall entities, render style set to solid, amount to 255)

On a somewhat related note, how does one create some railings you can shoot through, see through, but not walk through? (It's a bit pathetic when you can't shoot through what is plainly a hole in the railings :))

I dont think you can stop other entities from disapperaing. In cs rifles and what ever else that can shoot through walls will shoot through anything nomatter what you set the value to e.g. solid 255. In half-life you can make the brush afunc_illusionary and set it solid 255. It will still be walkthroughable so put a clip brush (1 unit thick) on the outside of the brush. If it touches the brush it will look like a merging brush.

The pic above was taken with the game in software mode (wanted it in a window while I worked on the map), but in hardware it looks fine...

Don't clip brushes stop bullets and things like grenades?

The fence your trying to create (The shoot-Thru, but not walk thru - Type) I managed to put in de_Gravel (My first map), and for the life of me I can't remember exactly, but seeing as I've gotten my computer back, once I get a good look I'll write up a file for it, and if anyone wants, a file on how to put fog in your map... Yes, I said "Fog"

Don't worry, I think DrAkE knows how to do the fence thing also, so you'll find the information either way - Watch this space...

    ok
make your fence or whatevcer and convert it to a solid 255 func_illusionary

then make two thin clip brushes and put one on each side of the fence. the clip brushes stop players moving through, but bullets/grenades will go through the clips. and the middle fence being an illusionary, grenades also pass through it.
