Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Any good places to go in town for New Year's?

This being my first New Year's in Ireland I thought I'd ask around :)

I was thinking of checking out the places in town until I find something I like but then I realized most of them will be charging admission and I don't have THAT much money. I'm into alternative and indie music and appreciate all the fine booze this country has to offer. Honestly I don't think I can have a bad time, especially after a few pints, but getting some advice seems like a good idea at the moment. Any suggestions are welcome!

try and get to a house party or something.
pubs are packed and over priced
clubs are crp and packed and over priced.
or if really desperate, forget about new years, buy some beer and watch tele on your own.

Yea I agree, I work as a bouncer here in Kilkenny on new years and it is ****e, pubs are full to the balls, At least where I work we close the doors when it gets very full, instead of trying to fit 40 million people in. Your best bet is to get to a house party.

    Here's my predicament...

I am sick, with a temperature of 102 (awwww). :(
I am at home, and this is the first night in 10 days that I have been able to go online (no wonder I'm sick, and I bet ye fukkers didn't even miss me).

But even if I was feeling better, I still wouldn't go out, coz all the reasons specified above are true (unfortunately).

Town was dead last night amazingly. I got the 25a from lucan at 9 o clock, and we were the only 2 people on the bus all the way in  There were a few people walking around town, but no more than a normal tues night. When we came out (of a house party) at 4.15, Dame st was barren, and we had no probs getting a taxi from the front of the Central Bank  very strange indeed
