DivX info required

Does anyone know a good place to go on the net to get the tools to backup my DVD's to DivX? Has anyone actually made a DivX backup of there DVD? Was it easy/medium/hard. I would appreciate any information on the subject.

Don't have the link handy but if you go back a week or 2 there was a similar post with the link to DVD-Digests guide and utils.

I have done it. It's not too hard if you follow the guide.
It took 8 hours to encode 45 mins at 640x480 by the guidelines settings. I didn't mix in the audio though. I ended up with a 450Mb file from 2Gb.

excellent ripper that puts most of the ripping process in one program, based on vobdec.

And its mp4, not divx

Divx has too many bad associations
