Although I think that was in connection with http://www.ntlworld.ie/ which isn't cable necessarily...

    bah, their links on
    http://www.ntlworld.ie/other-sites/index.asp

The launch date is apparently delayed by 2 weeks. Due to a marketing issue. And I believe what they're launching is the NTL version of SNL (hopefully with ISDN support) I don't think its cable yet.

    Gandalf.

i bet its just going to be modem, just to **** us off

Doesnt make any sense for them not to include isdn support as part of an unmetered package.

To have some kind of competitive edge over companies like esat they have to offer somthing esat does'nt.

NTL should do this if they want to live up to the image they seem to be projecting.

*should* smile.gif...but then again, the rules of reality and common sense dont seem to apply to the irish telco market smile.gif

    From www.ntl.ie website:
...The new modems will offer speeds up to 10 times faster than dial up lines currently available....
    10 times?
That's a bit cràp... I was using DSL(not sure of the flavour, but I think it was adsl) a while ago and was getting 150kbytes/sec downloads.

If by "speeds up to 10 times faster" they mean 10 x 56k-modem speeds then cable would give, what 50kbytes/sec downstream?
Call me picky, but you can stuff that, I want my DSL beeyatch.

Someone please tell me I'm wrong on this!

Yep, but that's half a Mbit, which is not bad for dowsnteam on cable AFAIK.

HDSL will be available to more or less every part of Dublin before the end of November.
Well thats what my sources tell me anyway.
They are just installing it all over the city and elsewhere I presume so that they can have a super launch and sign up most of the punters in one swing , rather than bringing out the technology in say, Foxrock, and working your way around Dublin.

It's about a society in freefall....

HDSL eh? a good 1.5Mbps duplex.
id rather that then ADSLs crappy upstream bitrate.

its usually a more large business than home based broadband tech though.

Those sites suck ass. Would an estimate of price and availability be too much to ask? They've prolly already decided, or if not have a good idea.

They also don't seem to mention who's in the newer cable network (2-way network rolleyes.gif ) and who's in the older cable network.

Basically as useful as their ad : "Cablelink is now called ntl"

This is sw33t... I live in D.1 And my area isnt upgraded.... well... I've to live with that. BUT, I just called them and talked to them about this..... and asked if they didnt at least had some ISDN flatrate... She says.. all the information will come out in a letter for you, since you are a customer here. And I asked again because I told her that I might be going with esat flatrate. Then she says. That I can almost count on that there is a ISDN flatrate!!! HOW SWELL IS THAT!!! =D

its grand for all ye dublin f00ks but dsl will take ages to come down to waterford.

And personally if its only 5 times faster than modem speed i'll take it.

I am so sick and TIRED OF THIS SH!T

Yeh, I spent a month in Canada with my beloved DSL... 150MB's is pure pìss to download, streaming AVI's/mov's/asf's run smoothly at fullscreen... pings are soooo sweeet.
And now I come back and all I have is a 56k modem offering smelly 200ms pings to irish servers and a poxy 4k/sec downstream.

Hurry up NTL, you sadists love making us wait.

    [+_+] <--- omg!! it's a lego man!!!™
