I can't be of any help, but I assume those prices are ex. VAT ?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,301 ✭✭✭irishguy

no inclusive of vat but the £ symbol refers to GBP. also which would be more sutible for the above a 350watt etermax PSU or a 431watt PSU
    £47.35 GBP for the 350watt
    and
    £73.79 GBP for the 431Watt

i'd go for the XP 1800+ and the KR7a-Raid me self, best price performance there really

the socket 423 is the old p4 type, 423 is the new type they're using, the BD7-Raid is S478 only afaik

As I've said before, In my opinion Abit boards are crap and so is the company. I'm going to go into it again, but I have explained why I think this in many posts before. Therefore I would go with the ASUS board. Other then that I have no opinion on the rest.

Yes, abits support is rather crap lump, but the real reason you are cheesed off is because you bought it in the states if I'm not m mistaken. I've had 2 abit boards go on me, but I got them both replaced with little hassle. They are good stable boards, and their quality, while suspect in the past, has improved greatly.

Irishguy, I would go for the KR7A raid and the 1800+ as well.

Get the 350watt psu, in fact the machine would run fine with a 300w psu.

XP1800 would be my choice too. Abits are good. They may take a bit more setting up, but are perfectly stable and great overclockers.
BTW, its worth saying that my Audigy was fried by my KR7A-Raid, and has happened a good few other people too, but a replacement card works fine, so some Audigys must have a fault that the KR7A uses to break them
