you lose your phone the sim card can be removed

but the s/n still remains the same

theres loads of these type of codes:

*#0000# = software version
*#92702689# = serial number, date the phone was made, number of times its being repaired, its lifetime, purchasing date, loadsa stuff (u have to turn ur fone off to get out of this menu tho)

theres loads more if u no how to use them right

*#06# gives you the imei number
international mobile equipment number.
it can be used to identify a phone/subscriber to a sgm network.
it is also possible to get an imei number blacklisted.
then the handset can't be used on phone networks.

there's no harm in knowing this info, also if you use mmm.eircell.ie they will even store the details there as part of your customer info.
