proxy dns ??
so whats the idea .. a proxy server allows multiple ips to get access outside a firewalled lan via a single gateway ..
but i dont see a similar analogy existing in dns .. i.e. there is no point allowing external machines know the lookups for machines behined a firewall ...

anyway all this is just me procastinating about starting work

so enlighten us fools dave .. what is proxy dns ??

the idea ( ) is for it to replace the external dns server in a network. the internal dns remains. the pdns is located at the firewall or border gateway, at the entrance to the network.

it provides better filtering/security, at least that what i've been told.

btw niall i get another sun box in a few days, (a netra t1?), that will make it 4
