as yet no pricing for gprs from eircell so its hard to tell
i guess it will be something along the same lines as jodafone in uk ;) and dodgefone here.

i am NOT impressed with the terminals though
    the motorola's are very annoying
    the siemans is good though(ish)
    and the nokia is useable

"There are two GPRS price plans - GPRS 5 for which the monthly rental fee is €5, and price per MB is €5, and GPRS 20 for which the monthly rental fee is €20, and price per MB is €2."

Motorola phones rock - they are ickle unix boxes! :D

I think it's waaay to early to be releasing GPRS services, especially in Ireland, corporate customers ok, but to 'standard' customers, no way. No-one would want it/afford it (except for a few 6th years in Blackrock college :D)

i don't think the cost is too bad

    Digifone,

The easiest way to compare them is Eircells GPRS 5 and 20 along with Digifones GPRS 5 and 20. You pay the same for both of them I believe, but with Digifone they give you 5 or 20 Meg for free in the package. With Eircell, you get zero free.

In the interests of stirring some s**t in this debate, I did a wee analysis of the two Eircell GPRS plans and compared them against their (almost) equivalent Digifone plans. I came up with the following two comparisons:

    gprs1.gif
    gprs2.gif

So on a matter of cost at least, it does all appear to be a bit of a no-brainer in that Digifone’s offering is much cheaper. Comments?

(The cost axis looks as if it starts with a '1' thus giving false results - this is just Euro symbol trouble).

    bugger!
    :(
having said that i reckon eircell would be very foolish not to offer some free traffic (which they prob won't -- double bugger)
