    So this J1 thingy does it only apply to the US or can you get something similar for other countries?

    Other general info related to the J1 visa would also be appricated. :)

    The J1 is simply the name for a first temporary student work visa in the US. Hence if you go a second time, you get a J2.. I think you can only get J1 and J2, and then you become a normal peon who must apply for a work visa in the US in the standard fashion (ie get a job first!!). I'm sure most countries alow work visa's but I'm not sure about the whole student-going-over-with-no-job thing. Canada has something similar, but I don't really know. :)
