You need the special cable that connects in under the cover beside the battery. I only have the cable for the 3210 and 7110/6110 type phones. You can order the cables from loads of different sites. They work out pricey though. You should get one though. You can have loads of fun with your phone if you have one. Send logos, ringtones, flashing messages, edit your menus and even activate mens you don't have!

Would the fone shop do it for me?

I honestly don't know. I suspose if you have proof that you were the owner of the phone they would. The nokia shop might be the best place to try if you live in Dublin. Its on Dawson St.

If you haven't changed the factory defaults the security code is most likely 12345. If its not this then you need cables...

I forgot the security code to my phone before. It was a Nokia 3210. I brought it to this phone shop in the Sandyford Industrial Estate, and they unlocked it for me. It cost £16 I think. That was about 3 years ago now. Actually maybe 2 years ago.

was this like a normal fone shop? do you know the name?

It's not a shop in the sense that you can buy phones there, it's more of a repair shop. They specialised in Nokias I think.
I cant remember the name of it, all I can remember is that it is beside the Eircom Phonewatch offices just down the road opposite Panasonic (beside Woodies and Compustore).
I will try and find the name though

Is all this un-locking lark actually legal ?

I was under the impression that you couldn't legally unlock your phone from a network unless they did it for you, and even then, you had to have spent about £100 or more on their network.

If you're a bill phone users, and you have your phone for more than a year, then the contract has expired and the phone is fully yours

if you have a "ready to go" phone and you hvae spent over £110 quid, you're leagaly able to unlock it too.

if you look in the For sale section, ppl sell cables that do what you look for, the tread is gone, but have a look anyway.

Afaik, Eircell (Ready to Go) allow you to access the PUK code for your mobile on line if you have registered for @manage My Mobile https://mmm.eircell.ie/services/logon.jsp.

If you re-flash the your phone, make sure you use the correct software version.

he doesnt need a puk, you dont even need to flash it, all you need to do is read the sercurity code using a cable and a program.
