Anyone know where I can find info on creating basic searh engines. Preferably under PHP, but any other language is good too (except VB .. *shudder*)

Hotscripts has a lot of PHP search engine scripts. Some of them are complete applications, while others could act as the basis of a more complete app. It depends on what you want to do...
