    Yeah Mike,
It's only saving grace is that mostly every new house in it's franchise area has had a connection by default, thereby giving it an increasing stream of income, however dubvious it's entitlement to that "automatic" increased market share might be.

It does appear that the NTL Group is in a bad situation financially, and will need a a lot of surgery if it is to survive.

However one should, at this stage point out that NTL Ireland's analogue operation is nicely profitable, and is likely to continue profitably for the foreseeable future, even if under different management than NTL. UPC or Telewest would probably do nothing radically different to NTL if they were running the business, which they may well be soon.

The UK business on the other hand, plus the cost of acquistions (basically, they bit off far more than they could chew) is whats weighing down the Group as a whole. And other NTL businesses (not Cablelink though) may well be under threat...

Yeap, indeed thats what I was getting at NTL's analog service in ROI is profitable-it has the sub base and it's growing with every new house built in it's area.

It strikes me that it should be a stand alone company or it's Dublin outfit should be bought by a cash rich, lowly geared outfit.
Then you would have Fast web access and Proper investment in Go digital.
That together with "it's Tv" would give Sky and Chorus the big
Toe nail boot that they deserve.
