i think valentines is really stupid.and people always think that i'm just being bitter cos i don't have someone to share it with when i say that,but i'm not.i honestly think it's stupid.

Personally I don't pay much attention to Valentines as it is nothing more than another commercialised holiday to keep Hallmark in business -- I feel sorry for the people who get upset because they aren't with someone on Valentines day but don't give a flying fsck about being with someone on July 26th or any of the other 364 (or 365, depending on the year) days of the year. They're just sad if you ask me, I still feel sorry for them though.

You're all completely right. However, it is nice to be with someone on the 14th, or even to get a card. It shows that someone at least cares that you exist. Valentine's Day wasn't always a Hallmark day; it used to have real romantic significance.

I'm totally in agreement, valentines day is such a 'happy hallmark day' kinda thing. I think we should celebrate pancake tuesday instead.

A lot of things used to mean something -- hell, Sundays meant something up until a few years back. In 20 years nothing will actually mean anything, we will just give into commercialism and celebrate St. McDonalds day and St. Addidas day when the above mega-corporations buy "Saint-hoods" (I forget the correct term) from the church and then turn them into commerical days that extort money from idiots. Simple.

I guess it's a lovely day for those who have someone to share it with, for those of us who dont, well i'm not lonely, but I dont see any big deal about it. (it's like fathers day, i'm not a father (i hope) so it doesnt affect me!)

Valentines day: urg. i think we should all arrange a major romantic/friendly day some other time in the year where we can all send each other random hallmark cards that say " happy 40th birthday" and "congratulations on your new baby with your 5th wife" and the like. oooh!!!! and we could call it "our paths were meant to cross like the arms of the "y" in CTYI" day! ooh! i think the caffiene from that cup of coffee is kicking in and i will probably read this tomorrow and wonder what in the fsck i was thinking when i wrote this. i suggest that we celebrate this holiday on May somethingeth. Any suggestions?

secondly: i don't pay attention to valentines much it's just (see above) and i needed to bitch bout something. plus it just kinda pisses me off to see people get so caught up in it.

I can understand why people get especially lonely on valentines day. Its designed to remind people of the person they care about, and for those who don't have someone, i can understand it.
