What in your opinion is the best plot in a game that you have played?

FF7 all the way. A stunning piece of storytelling as much as a stunning game.

Silent Hill ranks in just behind it, and then probably FF9/FF10.

As shinji said,FF7 is un challenged for best story.

Hmmm must actually get round to playing some sort of FF. Everybody keeps goin on about it.

Now that I actually think about it I don't really know, all my favourite games have stupid clichéd plots that sucked, or simply had no plots like Civ.

So I guess Deus Ex, for at least having a plot twist.

FF7 definatley. It was like watching a book come to life....in a game. :)

FF9 (My FF7 disc 3 was busted so I never got a chance to finish it), I liked Deus Ex as well, and one or two others that I'll think of later.

I'll have to join the FF7 bandwagon.

Going to be completely different and throw Freespace 2 in here.
Before ye all start trying to convince me otherwise, I haven't played FF7 :P

Ok, i love space sims and gerneal dogfight stuff but actulay thought the plot was quite brilliant. Kept me hooked all the way.
    And all those capital ships......

    Realms of the Haunting/Freespace 2

Have to say the Baldors Gate series (all of them) had a great storyline..

Also Deus Ex was very good too!

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,136 ✭✭✭Pugsley

Is it just me or is the winner seeming increasingly obvious?? ;)

I’d have to say Deus Ex. IMO the most engrossing storyline ever.

Well, I'd probably say FF7 also.

    But...

Seeing as it goes without say, I'll plump for Planescape: Torment.
Truly fantastic plot. WAY better than the Baldurs Gate games.

For any of you who can remember...

    In no particular order Lucasarts...

    The Dig,
    Loom
    Zak McKracken..

3 brilliant games, if a little dated now...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 8,478 ✭✭✭GoneShootin

    or another one my LucasArts

    OUTLAWS

    i liked LOOM myself.

but modern, as to be Max Payne

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,339 ✭✭✭✭tman

Max Paynes was pretty good, lasted about as long as a film tho. always thought flashback's story was pretty decent.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,379 ✭✭✭Mills

Ah Loom, I think that was the first game I ever played on the PC, came free with our external 2 speed CD ROM drive :), and very good it was too, although I don't remember it too well now, didn't it involve playing tunes on your flute at certain points to proceed in the game? I remember being stuck at a set of stairs or something that was all curled up for ages until I realised I had to play a tune backwards to get them to unwind, ah, memories :).

Haven't a notion what the story was about tho :).

A hefty price to pay for use of his PC methinks.
