Digital Optical connection from CD-ROM to Minidisc Recorder

I was wondering if anyone knows anything about recording optical digital data, coverted from either the sound-card or the CD-ROM drive (digital output) so that it can be recorded by the MD-recorder's optical in.

My Hi-Fi doesn't have optical out, so I'm going to use my computer instead. It would be great if I could also record digital audio from by sound-card....

I have heard of a connector for this, but Peat's (Dublin) don't seem to stock it.

    Thanks in advance!

If you have a sound blaster live you can buy a LiveDrive2 seperate from the platinum package which includes this connector or buy a specialist DI box.

maplin on jervis st should have it in stock. I think the computer optical connection is the same size as the one on the mini-disc, I'm not sure if your computer has an optical out, don't get it confused with digital ouptut. bring in the mini-disc with you to make sure you get the right cable. They also have analog cables which would go from your computer line out to line in on the mini disc.

Just for your information there is a crowd in the UK who do optical cables quite cheap.

I've ordered a few high quality scart leads from them so I'll let you know how I get on. They have a good rep from the forum users on www.dvdtimes.co.uk .
