    Hey Fellow geeks,

Presently employed as designer by a bloke who has a couple of websites. I'm not long at all this design stuff, but all going well.

Thankfully, i dont really have to work 9-5 and my work does not keep me terribly busy. (Shhhh....dont tell the boss)

Anyway, I am on the look out for some freelance/ nixer work, but i havnt the foggiest how to go about it. I know things are quiet, but if anyone has suggestions, i would be much obliged.

    Are there decent recruitment companies?

What type of CV's are these people looking for?

    Any places to put adds?

    Anything at all, at all

    Peace Y'all

Well.... there are a quite a number of sites specialising in freelance work, though most of them are US or UK biased.
I am trying to relauch Ireland's only (as far as I know) freelance/contract site... so you could try that... (see link below)

Thanks for the reply Black Knight

does anyone have any experience with employment agencies?

    Are they useful?

Do they require just a Cv in word format or do they prefer an online Portfolio?

    Anyone know the best ones

Last year I spent a lot of time dealing with recruitment agencies. Some of them were very professional, others were more interested in numbers ie. you were just another statistic.
My final conclusion was that you are best going with either a specialist agency, or one that is small enough to care.
For Internet/new media stuff there are a few agencies, such as New Media CV

    As for CVs and portfolios...
You're probably best offering both. Word of warning though - make sure that they:
    1. Don't contain any spelling mistakes
    2. Actually work - somebody sent me Flash source files last year by mistake - I wasn't too impressed!!!
