The Englishman's sportscar and the wagon

A wealthy young Englishman is racing his sleek convertible sportscar along a little Irish road. The tires squeal and the engine roars as he takes the corners and gears up and down. His visibility is limited because his car is low and the stone walls on either side of the road are high.

Meanwhile, two old bachelor brothers, Pat and Mike, have just finished loading the last of the hay from a stack onto their wagon. They light up their pipes and Pat urges the old horse into a plodding walk pulling the wagon out of the field toward the gate and the narrow road.

They are contentedly puffing on their pipes as the wagon creaks along the road when the Englishman and his sports car speeds around the curve behind them.

The Englishman sees the wagon too late, twists the steering wheel to the right, crashes his sportscar through the wall, and bumps across the field until he plows into a hay stack and the engine dies.

Pat and Mike have swiveled around on the wagon seat and are staring wide-eyed at the events. Pat then slowly takes the pipe out of his mouth and says, "Begob, Mike, we got out of that field just in time!"
