Quick question. When upgrading a motherboard is it advisable/necessary to format the Hard Disk?

    Thanks

If you're using Windows 2000, you almost certainly will.

I tried on a mates PC with W98 SE2 and it would not work.
It was a signifcant change though - Pentium Pro 200 on intel m/b to AMDK6 450 on Gigabyte.
If its the same vendor etc it might be worth trying but I would not be confident

Worked for me when I swapped my Packard Bell MediaMaster for an Abit KT7a. Was using win98 at the time.

    Format/reinstall. You're better off.

I am indeed _CreeD_ but only because she's limited to a 1Ghz 100FSB CPU.

I'll be using her in a second PC so there's life in the ol' girl still.

Now to start burning a few CD's to backup my HD

    Thanks for the replies
