Go back on dial-up for a month and then ask the question again. You will soon find your answer. ;)

But Boston, think of all the pornography you could collect!! ;) I mean that's what broadband internet access is really all about right?

that for the vast majority of people ADSL simply makes the 'internet' much more usable. [I'm not saying this applies to you boston].

Now that I'm back without it [moved house] I had the misfortune of having to do my weekend stuff without ADSL. As I checked in on my mail on Sunday 7pm I had the wonderful experience of having to wait about 15 mins for the 60 or so mails to come down... It's funny, it was only then how I realised how casually I had adapted to ADSL and accepted that it would be ever present.

Anyway, as for more to do on the net with ADSL, from my book it made the audio and video bits of the web really workable, so to that end I'd go to http://www.hotpress.com/broadcast/ to see and hear lots of cool pop star type people.

Once you get access to a faster net connect you can never really go back to the slower connect.

isdn users hate going back to modem, people who work in offices on fast connects hate having to use a modem or isdn, "its just not as fast as the office". I've always had access to a fast connect, either college or work. I had DSL for a while and having to use ISDN again was a pain. But after a while you get used to it again, but you know what its like to have the faster connect and so always want it.

Me I'd be happy to live in the office if only they'd let me stick a bed in...nothing like sitting on an the backbone of the ISP :)..

Broadband is the best! You can do everything!

    1. Download new films in dvd quality before they reach here!
    2. It doesn't have to be films, any tv show you want!
    3. As mentioned above, collect massive amounts of porn!
    4. Brag that you have it to other boards members!
    5. Save money, Ntl is cheap!
    6. Nobody shouts at you to get off the phone!
    7. Get more sleep. No waiting for files to download!
    8. Static ip! So many uses!

I couldn't think of anymore, but you get the idea! ITs fantastic! I'd love it but my computer is too slow fo it to be of any use! Whats the point of downloading .avi files if you can't run them :(

Anyone remember the old days on Esat SNL, when you'd open up Napster, queue 50 songs, go to bed and pray you'd get 10-15 of them by the time you wake up?

With DSL when you're finished queuing them they're already half done, the suspense is gone and it's no fun! ;\

Having said that; NO YOU CAN'T HAVE IT, IT'S MINE!

Yeah, 20 mins. after starting download of an MP3 the ba****d disconnected, the connection dropped, or the whole thing crawled to a snails pace.

Please give me my Cable, I deserve it, really!

Nope, I never once left Esat SNL connected all night while I was asleep... yet I got kicked off the service along with the rest of the "ooh look at me I've been connected for 59 hours solid!" muppets.
Thanks guys, you ruined it for the rest of us.
    GG.

Ruined a "No Limits" service by going over the limit?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 7,488 ✭✭✭SantaHoe

    YES!
Maybe I'm the only one who understands Esat logic...

No I do, which is why I was sympathetic to esat when they cancelled no limits....
and is also why I didnt abuse the service by leaving it on for hours unchecked..

I understand why they had to curtail SNL, I just don't like the way they handled it. This is old news though so, meh.
