I'm doing a project on Ir Printers in relation to data communication, i have a list of protocols but the definitions are a little hazzy. Does any one know of a site which could help me???

Most of my information comes from IRDA.com

ive never heard of an IR printer.
i would assume that its not the printer thats IR but the network connection?
in which case its just a normal printer with an IR connection?

This is really off the geeky track, even for me. smile.gif

Have you tried search engines? Without knowing more about buzzwords that are used I can't narrow the search.

I do remember seeing a page on how the Apple mac IR system works and how it's so different to a TV remote. But I can't remember the page and it's probably all newbie stuff for you. Sorry.

i hav tried search engines but they're not great, if i wanted to buy 1 it'd be no problem to to get some 1 to explain the basic principles of data communication via ir is a bit of a problem...

You need to learn how to talk to search engines a bit I think.

    http://www.armory.com/~spcecdt/remote/remote.html

http://www.synchrona.com/jred/jred_subset.html (check the bit on IrCOMM)

    http://www.us-epanorama.net/irremote.html

... how I found these. I first went to deja.com and typed in "Infrared data communication". Then looked through a few replies there and punched some of the buzzwords from replies into dogpile.com . After that I took the first three that looked straight off as possible answers. The second link has PDF's on protocol information. I'm not an IR expert, but looks like what you may need.
