This just started recently, no new hardware or software installed.

Sometimes when I move my mouse, the pointer doesn't move for a split second, then it jumps to the spot onscreen. Why?

OOOHH,I hear laughter in the rain.

What OS and what type of mouse?
Do you have the latest drivers?

usuakky too many processes working in the background in my experience.
in youre using win98, then in a run box type msconfig. on the far left tab, it allows you to choose what you want to run at startup.
id suggest unchecking everything but taskbar and systray.
also, find out if there is a perticualr program that it happens with.

maybe it has to heat up the warpcore before moving, and thats why you don't see the movement, maybe its dirty.
