We recently put one of our courses (the ECDL) onto cd.

It installs without any problems on 9x/nt/2000/xp etc.

Alas it will not install on 98 first edition :(

The cd has no autorun feature but we can't for the life of us figure out how to get it to run the setup.exe on 98 first edition.

It installs no problems on 98se/burgundy ed. but it just won't happen on 98 first edition for some strange reason..

anybody any idea's as to why this might be?

could it be the version of the Windows Installer thats on the machine?

why not just update the Win98 PC to SE ? it fixes bugs 'n' stuff...

good suggestion bard but I tried that, unfortunately it's not just the test com I have for it, it's anyone with win98 1st ed. that has the problem and ufortunately we can't just tell people to upgrade their os :( (we've had an odd 30 peeps try it to no avail)

I also tried copying all contents to desktop and installing to no avail, safe mode a no go either.

Can you give anymore details about what happens when you try to install it?
Does it crash? What error message do you get?

What kind of (if any ) registry entries are you entering into the registry?
