of hand, does anyonr=e know how i can get a mouse to work on a laptop.
its a gateway solo 2500 and intellimouse wont work. whenever i plug it in it goes mental and i have to reboot.
have installed proper drivers etc. this has never worked on any solo i know, but im using win98 and there has to be a way. i hate these stupid track pads!
of course, i vaguely remember being able to use a wheel-less mouse many years ago, but i dont have any wheel-less mice, so there....

same thing happens with my compaq.. you can throw a keyboard in the combined ps/2 port and work away.. but it just hangs when adding a mouse.
Theres a little ps2 splitter you can get for laptops to solve this.. but how effective they are i dont know.

Still in Gateway? Talk nice to Zita in the Operations Lab WWman, she'll sort all your laptop worries! (not intended to be explicit in anyway) smile.gif

Zita's still there?....Lovely girl. Remember when she was in Tech all those years ago.... smile.gif

Try a non-wheel mouse. If I remember rightly that's where the problem lay. Though I think they fixed it later with a Bios upgrade. Was along time ago.

yeah, i will have to collect a non-wheelie mouse at the weekend..

lol, Yea, Zita's a lifer....at least until that Comp. Science Masters comes thru, I guess.

Zita's job is(was) setting up the downloads for all those laptops for production. Including the mouse drivers etc. which involves testing etc.

She'd know of the problem and how to fix it if there is a fix at all.

So, to find out 'exactly how she would sort out my laptop' you'll have to ask.

    ....or get a non-wheelie mouse.

Get a USB Mouse, so much less hassle especially with laptops,

    mouse plugs in
    mouse plugs out
    mouse plugs in
    mosue plugs out
