Kinda an old expression there. When apple switched to the Power PC chips, the new macs were called Power Macs as opposed to the old 680x0 macs (a bit like when PCs switched to Pentiums). The term has been superceded since the arrival of the G3 and G4 chips.
So to answer the question, no there wont be a power mac versionof the new iMac, since its better than a powermac:)
(there is already a new desktop coming out tho, if thats what you mean)

From what i understand, an imac is targeted for public consumption while a power mac is built pacifically graphics work. (mac is the mainstay of the design industry btw)

Fastest Tech specs of the new i mac:

    800MHz PowerPC G4
    256K L2 cache @ 800 MHz
    256MB SDRAM
    60GB Ultra ATA drive
    10/100BASE-T Ethernet
    56K internal modem
    AirPort ready
    Apple Pro Speakers

Fastest tech specs of the fastest g4 power mac:

    Dual 1-GHz PowerPC G4
    256K L2 cache
    & 2MB L3 cache/processor
    1.5GB SDRAM memory
    2x80GB Ultra ATA drive
    SuperDrive
    NVIDIA GeForce4 Titanium
    56K internal modem

    bit of a differance :)

iMacs are just as good as G4s for design, even video editing and audio recording etc. The new G4s are rock hard speed wise providing the applications are optimized for dual processing. But apart from the fact that a G4 is faster, the only other main difference is the expansionality factor. iMacs cannot be added to with extra cards etc whereas G4s can.

The maximum memory on an iMac isn't too shabby either.

    iMac's rock!

Actually the iMac is a bit cheaper than the G4s
    ...............G4............-................iMac..............
    ...933MHz PowerPC G4 - 800MHz PowerPC G4
    256MB SDRAM memory - 256MB SDRAM
...60GB Ultra ATA drive - 60GB Ultra ATA drive
    ................SuperDrive - SuperDrive
    .........$2,299 .......... -............. $1799

The only lesser quality with the iMac seems to be the 133 Mhz in processing speed, that's not worth $500 though surely.

... and remember that you don't get a montior with the PowerMac either! The flat screen 15" on the iMac is probably worth about $300 if not more.

In the low end Mac market, the iMac is definitly better value.
