Over the last month or two I've been noticing that It's getting harder to connect to Eircom using Dialup, I'm talking about the 1891 number. At first I put it down to a Bad connection, or a faulty modem, but i've noticed that this happens to ALOT of people who use the same service. It sometimes has to ring about 10 times to connect, even longer somedays. And when it does connect, it can stop sending and receiving data for 2-4 minutes at a time. Anyone else having similar problems?
This is really pissing me off!

Yes I am on IOL Gold (1891) using ISDN and I am noticing times where it just stops sending and recieving data for short lenths of time. It does not drop the connection though. Anyone know what is causing this as it is quite frustrating.:confused:

This happened to me for several months last year. I am using 56k dun with dna.ie (utv internet now). The connection would arbitrarily just stop sending or recieving yet keep me connected. The ISP was most helpful and havign tried several different tasks ranging from chaning the cable to updating the DUN software, etc. it wasn't at my end and it wasnt' at their end.

So look in EirW*nk's general direction and just think "incompetent bast*rds"

When my internet line was Analogue I had the same problems. I checked on the net for links and info about Line Noise and I was able to prove to the "gifted" Technicians in Eircon that there was indeed bad line noise which was affecting me.

Here are a few links I have dug up

    http://support.aznet.net/doc/line_qa.html

    http://www.modemhelp.net/linenoise/motorola/motorola.shtml

    http://www.mall.co.nz/utilitysoft/edit/downloads.htm

    http://www.ntinet.com/support/phoneline_test.htm

These are all US oriantated but try some of the tests out. I used the Gateway2000 bbs to test mine I think its gone now so you'll have to get a number for one, colleges normally have them up & running.

    Gandalf.

I know this has been asked before, but I can't find the answer - does IOL Gold support dual-channel ISDN? Does Esat Fusion CPS support ISDN?
