MAJOR PROBLEMS HELP ME

got a slaptop here. will boot up till u see the win95 loading screen then stalls out to dos, cant enter windows at all then. no cd-rom access. windows files seem to be corrupted so i want to sipe the system and start again. what can i do? it will access the a: drive. cant load it in safe mode even. tried using a win98 boot disk from a diff computer. still no cdrom access etc. terribly frustrating. mentioned summat about "incorrect dos version" once or twice but ussually just says "registry/configuration error".

anyway and quick fix appretiated greatly

what make is it?
on the off chance this helps, you have to hold down 'c' to boot from cdrom on toshibas.

You'll need to find a boot disk that has cdrom driver.. obviously enough. If you have an original copy of win98 that came with a pc, they have a boot disk in em that you could use.

I'd say that your laptop probably doesn't support boot from cdrom. bit too old.

Have a search on the web for bootdisks.
