Cardinal Cables Basec Category 5 UTP 80900693M

The reason I ask is that a customer that had his network cable installed a few years ago by the builder that fitted him with everything else is having huge network problems.

He is running some database software designed specifically for Dentists that is spitting out loads of "network errors" The software designers claim that is has to be the network.

I have tested the network and cant find anything wrong with it, but I also did not install it.

Now, I do remeber hearing down at the electrical supply store a year ago, that the government issued a warning about some "dodgy" cheap cat5 cable that was being sold...I was just wondering does anyone have any idea what the brand of cable it was ...or a link to a site that mentions this?

A network error was encountered while sending results to the front end. Check the SQL Server errorlog for more information.

If so I have seen these where I work and its definetly not the network here thats at fault.
I think its when the database server loses contact with the client. i.e maybe the user does an end-task on a report that is running too long etc...
If you want to check the reliability of the cables download a program called freeping and then load this program with a list of ip's you want to monitor and leave it running for a few days.
