    Is there a DVD ripper for windows Millenium?
    CladDVD doesnt seem to work for me..it hangs at the authentication stage.
    Any ideas?

    they're for his own personal use ..
    but ripping dvds is illegal anyways isn't it ?

    I use a combination of DVDdecrypter & FlaskMPEG.

    so is copying audio from a cd or the radio, photocopying pages from a published book for exams etc. etc. etc.

    anyway..
    i think everyone pretty much uses FlaskMPEG these days.. its bloody excellent and has enough options to keep most people happy smile.gif

    no its not illegal if you own the original and the copy is for back up purposes.
    applies to all media formats as far as im aware

    I know about the back up purpose
    but I just thought that backing up DVD was illegal
    becase the man and his son who cracked the DVD code were imprisiment for cracking the code.

    Its to do with an American Law called the DMCA. Which says any device used to circumvent a copy protection encryption is ilegal. Even if its for Fair use purposes such as back up. Ultimetley it boils down to the RIAA and MPAA(?) dictating how, where and when you listen/watch the DVD's you have bought.
    But DeCSS was written by someone in Norway..
