I've reset the post counts (and somehow managed to lose 1600 of my own ) so smak and richindub *cough* can begin spamming again! Hobbes still leads, see the new Top 25 Posters link in the boards.ie - Bulletin Boards submenu.

vBulletin doesn't update a lot of stuff - such as deleted posts - on the fly, to keep it nice and quick. Every now and then you have to (ok, should) run a few housekeeping tasks in the admin panel to clean this stuff up. There are a few of these tasks, and one of them is cleaning up post counts.

I had steadily climbed my way up to about #15, but I've slipped back out of the top twenty now. Cloud has overtaken me, even in light of the dropped posts. I demand a stewards enquiry!

LOL, I think I've actually gained a few posts, about 50 I think, but I haven't really looked at the count in ages so I'm not sure.

Any ideas what's causing this?

I'm not entirely sure why people would have lost large numbers from their post counts, vBulletin recalculates people's post counts based on the number of posts it finds matching their user IDs in the database - theoretically anyone who is using the same account since the UBB days shouldn't have lost posts...

Since we have a no deleting old threads policy here there's no reason why people should have lost that many from their post numbers - unless they were incorrect in the first place...

I suspect the reason why some accounts have lost posts was that their usernames were not imported properly from the Community forums - Bard would be one of these.

Well I can look into individual cases, for example I did a search by username on the posts for "80p" (to match 80project.com and 80project) and Bard and came up with the same number of posts as in their post count, which leads me to think that maybe the numbers were incorrect to start with - but I could be wrong.

The only way to show me that there's something funny with your post count is to find a bundle of old posts not linked to your userid, for example when I moved to vB my own account was one that was not linked back properly to UBB posts (so I lost 1663 posts and had to add them on manually). The search utility should identify these if there's a common phrase or name you use to end your posts (I used to use "John.\n--" so that was easy to find).

You are right there Cloud that my post count for VB is correct because if you search VB it will say my first post was 25/07/01
ie.- here's the first page of posts for 80project

but...
That doesn't account for the name change and the fact I joined in May and for example doesn't have my early posts (c.300) under the name of 80project.com. For example ones like these on the IrelandOffline community forum on the 6th of June...

well F@B did delete alot of the crap from tippinst and if he lost 300 i don't think it take too much of a strech of the imagination to imagine how many you'd loose

smak and richendub2 cannot live without the thought that one day they might reach the pinnicle of boards success with the highest post count.

Yep that's true, those old Community Forum posts are not contributing to the post counts - I'll see if they can be changed manually (going back to the member files for those forums if I still have them).

80p, when I did the search for you I matched both 80project.com and 80project, and the total was the same (not sure why the old username has remained in the older posts, but the userid is the same).
