Can any one give me a brief description of what coldfusion is, or a web site that explains in GENERAL terms what it does and what benefits it has.

    thanks:p

    www.macromedia.com

Similar to asp, php, cgi and the likes - lets you interact with backend databases, I'm looking into it myself at the moment!

    Check out ColdJava
It's a JSP version of Coldfusion (or so I believe).

I use CFM for the bulk of my work, I can do ASP, PHP and a bit of Perl and Python. I always go with CFM its alot faster to make scripts in because of its ease and reuse code.

There is a massive listing of custom tag's which are quite handy as you can include just about any other language into it.

    Check www.cfm-resources.com and www.macromedia.com

    cfm-resources provide free hosting
