Usually happens when the sock files get changed or altered in some way. Check your SOCKs and make sure they're the right size in the right places

    1.)winsock.dll 21,504 bytes 21 KB
    c:\windows or c:\windows\system

    2.)wsock32.dll 40,960 bytes
    40 KB c:\windows\system

If that doesn't work you'll need to reinstall the TCP/IP stack.

    Ammm I wouldn't.
Just go to ADD/REMOVE, click windows setup
double click communications untick dial-up networking click ok... ok again and restart

(oh and then you have to reinstall it following the inverse of the steps above... well reticking the box anyway wink.gif)

    .logic.

Jaysus somethings gone seriously wrong. About the only thing that does deal with sockets are the sock files and network adaptors. After you delete and reinstall those theres not much left to DnR. You could try extracting the socks from the windows CD (not sure which cab) and replacing them by hand but I'm really grasping at straws here.
