Metallica - Money-Grabbing ****-suckers!

Cannibal Corpse is being sued by rockers metallica, due to their inclusion of the hidden track "no remorse" on their most recent album, "gore obsessed." A 5 million dollar lawsuit could cripple the band financially.

Metal Blade had been in negotiation with Elektra Records for a royalty rate for the use of the song. But Metallica was not pleased with the amount offered. The CD was ready for release prior to the negotiations being finished, and the band wanted it released as soon as possible, opting to make the song a hidden track so it wouldnt be such a "big deal" and a royalty rate would still be in the works.

Future repressings of this album will not include "No Remorse."

And the icing on the cake is a little something called Garage Inc... Why, a whole double CD album with 27 cover songs!!!

Umm ... well, to be honest, Cannibal Corpse have brought this upon themselves.

1. Garage Inc. was made WITH the relevant bands' permissions. That's the sticking point against Angel Whores argument there.

2. The fact that Cannibal Corpse went and released the album whilst they knew that negotiations were on-going is tantamount to saying "Do what you like, we don't give a flying f*ck cause its too late for you to stop us - hahahahaha"

So, I'm not surprised at metallica's actions. I'd not be surprised if that were anyone else doing the same thing to Cannibal Corpse. They released a cover for commercial gain WITHOUT the relevant (doesn't have to be metalica) band's permission, and that's the bottom line.

could you please leave the issue of sexual orientation out of this? :mad: they're assholes but if they're faggots is quite a different matter and should not really influence anyone's perception of them.

$5 millon is a little over the top. It's not like CC are going to sell 20 million copies of that cd. I think Metallica lost their grip on reality a long time ago.

In case anyone's interested, I've just downloaded the song from audiogalaxy. It's a decent enough cover (pretty much note for note actually), not worth $5 million though

Play with fire you're gonna get burned. Metallica are well within their rights to screw over Cannibal Corpse. The 5 million will probably barely cover Metallicas lawyers fees. I dislike metallicas corporate attitude. Lars just acted like more of a retard with the Napster thing.

But Cannibal Corpse deserve what they get for going ahead without permission. Nobody has the express right to do what they did. Maybe they should get better legal advisers or start listening to them. Wonder will they think that their arrogance was worth 5 million.

The funny thing is now that those albums with the hidden track will probably become collectors items.

Seeing as CC were in negotiations, and that those were almost closed, but Metallica said at the last moment "HEY! That's Not Enough!" Right when CC couldn't do anything about it.

The fact is that CC included it as a hidden track, it's not like they released it as a single and sold 50 million copies of it. Bands should be proud that their songs are getting covered, it shows how they've influenced people. Running to lawyers every time somebody does that is just stupid and ultimately counter-productive.

Album sales is where its at. A track hidden or not thats a Metallica cover will get the Metallica fans buying it. They will go and buy the album for that one song. So Cannibal Corpse get loads of royalties of the other songs which were bought only because they were packaged with the metallica song.

As death metal goes,corpse are quite stupid and simple musically(with stupid lyrics.Impaled do it far better).The new album sucks anyway,if you are looking for recent death metal ,go buy the new decapitated album instead.Or the new immortal album.mmmmm.immortal.
