Can someone clarify what this option means and allows me to do?

locks your phone agains any other sim card so if it is stolen the idea is they cant put in another sim.. though a flasher cable and crack software would probably bypass it... I have seen it on Siemans phones!

This is an option that was on nokia's (you have to key in a code).

At one stage it did allow free calls but there are only a handfull of networks in europe that this still works with...and none of them exist in ireland

The free call thing is just a myth it has never and does not have anything to do with free calls all it does is allow you to check if your sim card suports clock stopping which conserves battery power. the code for this is *#sim0clock# if anyone is interested another one is *#war0anty# it allows you to check certain details specific to your phone there are one or two others around but they don't do anything exciting.

    cheers
