Almost five years after Ennis became Ireland's Information Age Town, Eircom yesterday ended its interest in the project although €3 million remains to be spent on the venture.

a cynic might say that the government money ran out and that eircom ran out even just as fast.

a less cynical person might note that various broadband technologies have worked so well in Ennis for years that they are now ready for nationwide deployment
