When attempting to install a CD Writer that I was using on my =PC into my bros PC I get the following error when using the installation software: Cannot find suitable IDE Controller

    The PC is running win2k
    Intel 733mhz
    128 Ram
AMR Motherboard with latest 4 in 1 drivers.

Anyone have any ideas why it is giving this error and know of a possible solution to it?

    Thx in advance

at what stage do you get the error?
what controller are you connectiong to?
    master or slave?
what else do you have on your system?

usual info to give when you have a problem.
however, offhand i have no idea.
look up technet. its full of handy hints :)

Check the jumper settings (like WWM has mentioned) - usualy a problem there. Many CD writers don't seem to like anything set to "cable select"
