Thanks, granted -- by the end of it I will probably be a bitter, lonely individual -- but I will be raking in the cash and being paid to argue. I'll also have a chance of maybe possibly not very likely but there's a hope of having some minor influence on this countries archaic constitution which really does need to be completely rewritten.

I'm legal <wink wink> but it still would seem wrong. ;p

    awe,
yep u r right, it is wrong...be we can be pc friends :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭lordsippa

    sure thing.

but i was just thinking through the guys i know of 18+ness.... and i don't know if it'd be a good idea introducing you to them. aside from the fact that many are taken (although one whom no-one here knows mightn't) the singles list isn't looking too pretty...

    i mean... <censored>* - lol

you should post a picture of yourself and then get guys to post their pics. like online dating agency only people here can tell you what they're really like.

    <just a thought is all>

(* i'll ask can i say who... might be offensive)

i think you've actually hit on a great idea looking for men on boards.

I know if i was gay this is where i'd look :)

hmm now there's an idea : a dating board

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,590 ✭✭✭lordsippa

Today I was having a quick glance through the rich list and an idea hit me. (oh come on it's obvious!)

but yes, if you did decide to try your hand at one of those loaded types and get married, you could divorce them for quite a large sum of money which would give you the freedom to go out EVERY night in search of mr. right. And yes, it's golddigging, but ask yourself - "do i like money?"

<please note that this is early morning ranting>

Yes i am dirty. And yes, i am a 67 year old trapped in a 16 year olds body. And yes i really should wash more to alleviate symptom #1. unless by that you meant...

you will have to use your powers of deduction neil. all of the information is on this page of this thread. oh never mind, i always want to send people hunting around for information, but i just cant wait till they find out.ALASKA GIRL is my handle, and im generally very honest. and i am 15, as i stated just a couple of posts ago!

WAVE OF TOTALLY UNRELATED INFORMATION IN 5....4...3...2...1....

ooh! i got new capri pants yesterday! and they are red with white hawaiian-ish flowers. but what really ticks me off is the fact that pants that are supposed to be short or midcalf on "normal" people are almost long pants on me because im just 5 foot 3. drat!!!!!

What do they want to be? (realistically and ideally)
Where do you picture yourself in 10 years time?
Where do you want to do to college/university or what else would you like to do?

I want to go to Maynooth, to study Economics and Finance (changing my CAO actually! :P ) and I want to eventually end up working on some kind of money market / stock market and advicing and predicting things for businesses. And then some day with lots and lots of experience i'd love to be a proper Economist.... and advise governments and stuff. Silly, idealistic and a little bit odd.... but for anyone who was ever in my class and saw me getting into company analysis and stuff like that then they should know that's what i'm serious about (only realised the company/stock market thing the other day!!), and I just am all kinda looking forward to it... somebody wish me luck?

    So what are *your* dreams?

    << Fio >>

4 years on... (wow), sorry was looking for something and found this, any of the other original posters still around?

Well I didn't go to Maynooth, changed my mind again and went to Galway to do Financial Maths and Economics (Science as opposed to Arts), more analysis than theory.

Well money markets may be out of the question, but instead I'm looking at modelling and predictions for insurance/risk markets. (I hope)

As for wanting to be a "proper" economist? I think I'll be a Mathematician to the core, but perhaps the economist in me will get to live a little.

And yes, I'm still looking forward to it, only it's now 6 months away, rather than 5 years.... :)

Jack Lynch: Yes. it's called the bottom of the list of topics. You're probably just viewing the first 20 or so

I don't think anyone who posted in this thread is on this board much anymore... Sven and Neil drop in occassionally but that's pretty much it I think. I was a member of boards when this thread started but I didn't use it much cos we had a dialup connection and I'm just too impatient - hence I don't remember the thread. In some ways I wish I had seen and posted on it, cos I've no idea what I would have written when I was 15! I don't even remember what I wanted to do in college at that stage

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 1,295 ✭✭✭Acid_Violet

    So, here's the list:

1a. Either go to college and study philosophy or physics or chemistry and attain a good job that way or
    1b. Marry a rich man/woman
    2. Live life like a road trip for as long as possible
    3. Help people in a nice way (forgive the cliché)
    4. Prove people like my history teacher wrong about most things
    5. Stay awake for the longest time I can achieve
    6. Hibernate for a bit
    7. Remember all the other things I've on this list and complete this list

I remember this thread, lol... I was 17 then  I'll be 22 in June, good god that makes me sound old!
Since then, it's been Leaving Cert and a bit of a twisted path through college. I've been in UCD since 2002, did mathsy stuff for 3 years, now I've sold my soul to CS, and I'm in 2nd year. I like the course, and afterwards I'd like to do a masters in games programming and go on to work in the games industry.

  • Registered Users Posts: 356 ✭✭the evil lime

Wasn't about back then, but I do remember the economics / financial markets class that seems to have started it off. I'm in UCD doing Commerce, first year, and have no real idea what I'm gonna do, with the exception of the fact that I'll do my best to avoid working for other people...and probably fail....

I don't even know what specialism to do yet.

Oh, if anyone is interested, at the innital time of this thread being posted, I was fifteen, and thought I'd like to do law. I'm doing it as an elective, and am rather glad I didn't persue it as a degree.

Yeay! After nearly three years, I've hit my 50th post!

    That took a while.

I never posted here for one reason or another. I'm quite sure I would've said something CompApp related at the time anyway (given being in 1st year of CA at the time, I think). Well that's done and dusted and I've a job now (not working for myself, that'd a bit of a surprise I guess). That said I own a company but the whole working for self thing isn't all it's cracked up to be a lotta the time.

Where will I be in X-years? I've no idea to be honest. Lets go with 5 years? Work/academically strictly, uh... I dunno. *coughs* Insightful, eh? I'd like to be finished a book (writing, not reading!), a screenplay and maybe a few games. That's just random really.

I'll see where life takes me. I'm still trying to get accustomed to the working world. That's enough of a challenge for me for the moment.
