unison netbox connection time

    do a unison netbox need to be powered up at all times i normaly plug it out
    when not in use but when i do use it it sticks on the connected line
    the disconects i then have to rediail again to get on line i have tryed the
    register.unison.ie update seems to help but after being unpluged for a while
    its the same again it also sticks on login and disconnects would the lenght
    of the phone cable make a difference i dont think it would when you consider
    the lenght of cable frome the exchange to a house?
