    Why ?

Theres no point in us guessing, its up to Eircom, Esat and the other players in the ISP/Telecoms market. They are the only people who can answer this.

Whats this "Dublin" bias I detect?.

It is the whole Country that Ireland OFFline are representing, is not.

I live in "Donegal" and I refuse to let this the acknowledged - Most neglected county in Ireland - be ignored or sidelined AGAIN?.

Lets hope some "Politicians" read this.

Ireland OFFline for "everyone" in every "part" of Ireland.

Probably because Dublin is the first place it's going to be commerically released. And, at a guess, he lives in Dublin.

As it quite clearly says on dathi1's profile, he lives in Dublin. DSL releases in Dublin are probably slightly more interesting to him than DSL releases in Donegal. I hardly see his post as "biased", he simply asked a question.

Do you ever think before you post Paddy20, or do you just naturally blurt out the first thing that pops into your mind?

You are "still" baiting me dahamsta or "Adam" or "Whatever"?. Well it will not work - "Get a Life". Your remark is not worthy of a logical or sensible response from me, and I wil never respond to anything either - "You or Bard" has to say. See you - Not if I see you first. Goodbye to you two?.

As I am "Disabled &Housebound". I have sent my last EIRCOM bill to the DSCFA - Let them contribute to the cost and I will pay my -"Reasonable share" i.e. the same as they are paying in another part of Ireland. That is all they are going to get from me ? About Euros 20.00 per month , which would make my contribution towards my total bill of Euros 259.00?, about 40 Euros is al I am willing too pay from now on.

If EIRCOM cut off my phone which is essential to me due to my "serious life threatening" health problems. Then my way of reacting and what I believe will be available to all to read in the National Media press/radio/&TV.

As this member of a minority group is "FED UP" by a ISP that thinks it is a monopoly. They have been overcharging "everyone" for far too long - Now I am throwing down the gauntlet - Let them pick it UP - I hope?.

    God bless & Be lucky.

    Yours, paddy20:)

    Big yawn.
Im tired having to trawl through the drivel and needless postings of some before getting to genuine discussions on IOffL's reason for existence. Im sure Im not alone in this opinion. Thanks to dahamsta and bard for remaining calm and being more than reasonable with some people.

    That means everywhere else paddy.

Paddy, you refuse to pay more than 20 euros for your phone bill?

My last home phone bill was 80 euros. thats about normal. Let me make this clear - thats for voice calls only. My DSL connection is not included in that.

Your line rental is about 24 (?) euros alone.

If line rental used to be £20 per month then it'd now be €25.39.

I thought it was £12 (€15.23) or so per month though... ?

(ok, I know I shouldn't be encouraging him but...)
I'm sure they'll be glad to hear that, but remember they're not a charity Paddy20, you should probably start stocking up on phone cards.

Paddy I haven't engaged in alot of the post you've fired up. While I understand your frustrated what exactly was wrong with the original poster asking about DSL in his area.

If you fired a query up about Donegal we wouldn't whinge like that.

The basic fact is there are more potential customers for DSL in Dublin than Donegal therefore any commercial company will roll the service out there as they want as big a return on their investment as soon as possible.

Flat rate will when released be accross the board no matter where in the country you live.

Next time don't be so quick to jump down someones neck :)

    Gandalf.

-" Frank, My "phone rental" is paid in FULL by the " DSCFA" under the - Disabilty Allowance Scheme" for which I "Qualify" as I have to be able to make - emergency - phone calls.

As the state pays my telephone "rental" it would in fact be "illegal" for "Eircom" to disconnect my telephone line - as I do not pay for it. Plus if they did - disconnect - they would be guilty of putting my - Life - at serious risk. Plus, when I state that I am prepared to pay 20 Euros per month?, I am referring to how much I will pay for my "Internet use" time online. As that is around what they are paying in another part of Ireland and I live in IRELAND too. When will the "able bodied"- cop on- to the fact ,that the - Disabled - ARE entitled to "State" subsidies for services that a particular individual may need for everyday living. I live alone - therefore I believe and will fight for a "State subsidy" on my essential internet access rights and justifiable needs. All my personal telephone calls I will pay for "Myself".

    Yours, paddy20:cool:

paddy20, there's no point in me even posting this because it's pretty obvious you don't care about anyone elses' opinions (unless they agree with you), but the fact of the matter is. If you run up a huge phonebill it is your responsiblity to pay for it. There are no subsidies, live with it until there is.

    Also
When will the "able bodied"- cop on- to the fact ,that the - Disabled - ARE entitled to "State" subsidies for services that a particular individual may need for everyday living.

What if someone decides that porn is a nescessity? Should the tax payer fork out for that too?

Frank, If you would read the last sentence of my reply to you. I state that I will pay my personal telephone call costs - it is the internet online charges that I have a gripe about.

Re:"Others opinions? - Why do you think I started a number of "Peoples opinion "Polls" on this forum. So who cares about peoples opinions, and stop being so smug?.

Yours, paddy20:) No offence meant Frank - and I hope none taken??..

They are phonecalls, you make them - you pay them, like the rest of us. I'm not being smug. And I think this says it all
So who cares about peoples opinions

This has gone totally OT, I'll stop now.

    dath1,

If "you" were offended by my "DUBLIN BIAS" -remark?.

Then I hereby retract it completely? and - apologise - to you without reservation.

Best Wishes, & I agree with your question??..

    Paddy mate,

you certainly have a bee in your bonnet for some reason or other with a comments like these. I don't know what past flames you have had with Bard or Adam, but I can, unfortunately, see why.

Sure, you're disabled, sure, you, like everybody else in Ireland is getting screwed in the B-O-T-T-Y by Eircom, but come on.

Firstly, there was no bias in the original post, you just have to read it.

Secondly, I honestly think it is irrelevant to advertise on _this_ forum that you are disabled. I mean my da works in Cadbury's but I don't go around telling everyone that I get cheap chocolate, but their staff shop is susidised do I?? I don't because it's irrelevant.

You've got some serious issues that you need to sort out before you start giving out. I'm all for a worth debate, but talk your disability talk off the forum, cos it's really given me and I'm sure others and bit of a headache.

    :(

anyway besides all the above....any idea when. If you were a betting person what are the odds for the jurisdiction of Ireland :) June / July eircom first? esat? ps Paddy Power should be taking bets on this one. 100/1 before december?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 13,992 ✭✭✭✭gurramok

    No Idea daithi

perhaps have a betting poll ? !!...LOL
On past & present behaviour of telcos(ie greed!) in this country, my bet for affordable broadband/flat-rate is this time next year.

    dathi1,

July with Eircom leading the field, but to start only by introducing a -"Unmetered flat-rate ordinary internet service at a set : monthly charge, - but - hold on a minute - I think I can just see -. "Broadband/DSL?ISDN/ gaining "lightning" speed around "December" as our XMAS BONUS from Eircom, Hurrah? Jump for joy - everybody happy at last, thanks to those lovely Eircom Directors - who hold all the "Trump cards" anyway.

Good luck, & Be lucky - and may the "Sun" always shine on "Your" parade?...

    Yours,paddy20;)

there's no point in this being here any more, almost every post has nothing to do with DSL

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,300 ✭✭✭irishguy

paddy20, where in ireland are they paying €20 for a flat rate internet connection ? the only thing i can think you can be referring to is IOL no limits (which is £20 or €25.39) there are only a few people in the country that connect to this. every 1 else has to pay there 1c a miniute or what ever it is and i can hardly call IOL no limits a service as the speed was crap (only 3kbs~ download) and it cut out regulary gladly i have moved up in the internet world (to 512k) and ill never go back

Thats the problem they taste scrumptious and I eat too many in my cereal bowl every morning, and thats before I even start in too
    my big "Fry - Up" of - " PADDY BASHERS" - .

You would think that by now we true Irish would leave the - "Paddy Bashing" - . To the "BRITS" After all they have the 800 years of experience at it.

I am genuinely surprised how immature a lot of the posters on IOFFLS forum comments are, they must have very little else too concern them.

Well, let them hear this I am in the phone book and all my personal contact details are avaiable on this site. So anyone who would like too face me "FACE TO FACE" Here in Donegal. Please feel free too call in to my home. At least I do not have too lock my doors at night - my door is always open. You anti-paddy20- posters - if you have the B**** come and let me "Eyeball" you too death?...

Oh, and before I forget "Praetorian" I am stopping eating your kind because apart from the indigestion - you are coming accross as a genuinely O.K. type & none of the above RANT is directed at you - ? alright. Those too whom I am referring are probably a bunch of spineless wonders who have been more of a burden too - Ireland OFFlines - forum, than a help. Thats my 2c worth, I just hope they "get" the message from this "Paddy" .

Good Luck and Be Lucky in your life, but remember - The Admins are Watching?? shivver, shivver,.

    Yours, paddy20
