    ****************************************************Band Biography

    #kingsativa
Formed five years ago by Cheeko, Derek and Anto, they were the 1999 winners of the Heineken Green Energy new band challenge, receiving 20 days studio time and have used that time to record their debut album 'we did then'. At the start of 1999 the band came first in the Smirnoff Hot Press Home Front Band Challange, against stiff opposition, to collect £2000 worth of studio time.In May of that year, the now annual Heineken Hot Press Green Energy New Band Competition was held.To the bands surprise they came out on this one as well, this time scooping £10,000 of studio time.
"An imagination and sense of courage needed to make music of a lasting impression"Eamon Carr..Evening Herald
On the Dublin live front, #kingsativa have being playing to a full house at their Smiley Bulger run Sunday night residency in Eamon Dorans in Temple Bar, proving to be a relaxed jam session worth checking out. They opened for the legendary Wailers, Bob Marley's backing band, at the Olympia on Fri 04 May,to a full house .which proved to be a great night for the band making some good contacts for the summer. They got to meet the original members who were well impressed by the sativa material. On the Monday 07 and tues 08 they played to the good people of mountjoy prison for a 'near fm ' outside radio broadcast in memory of Bob Marley's death..#kingsativa are no stangers to the prison, but not for that reason ,they play each Christmas, which proves to be one of the better gigs.
'Don't like sativa, we love em', Kim Porcelli..Hot Press.
#kingsativa have played across Ireland under their guise of Catch A Fire, the Bob Marley and the Wailers tribute.to full houses every time, building up a loyal fanbase that is already coming across to the #kingsativa material. Having already made a home of the Olympia it's only a matter of time before #kingsativa are doing the same. With Sony and a number of independent record labels showing an interest in the band it will be sooner rather than later.

    NINA HYNES
Dublin born NINA HYNES swapped her studies in Trinity College for a more reclusive existence in a weather-torn corner of Donegal in Northern Ireland. It was there where she learned to play guitar and developed her voice. She then moved to France where she tested out her new-found talents by busking on the streets of Paris. After being offered recording opportunities and management, she decided to move back home for a reality check and to further perfect her passionShe found a perfect outlet in the form of the singer/songwriter night at 'The International' in Dublin. She ended up playing alongside the likes of Christy Moore, Luka Bloom, Glen Hansard of The Frames, Mundy and Sony recording artist Paddy Casey. After gaining a sizeable fan base and crafting some of the songs that would eventually end up on her debut release, she was picked up by local independent record label Reverb Records. Reverb immediately put NINA and her band into the studio to help finish recording her debut-in-progress 'CREATION.'In between a few live dates around Ireland, NINA HYNES is currently putting the finishing touches on 'STAROS,' her first album proper. It is reported to have over 11 musicians as guests, including members of successful Irish band The Frames.
