Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

I'd suggest closing the thread, it's really spiralling out of control now. Maybe a banning would be in order from the Dance music boards? Ah maybe a bit harsh, the poor lad will have nothing then!

it went outta control a while ago... :(

The thread is pretty much dead, so there's really no point in locking it.

And I'm sure people would like to see if Sunny will reply at all.
So in that case, I'd say leave it open.

If he replies, then there's still a bit more debate left.
If he doesn't, the thread floats off into forgottenness.

There's too much talk of Locking and Banning.
There's nothing madly out of control.
Just a few clashings of opinions, and some muppetry.

Is there any mad spamming? No.
Is there any flaming of all the threads on the board? No.

We don't need to do any of that.

Ken I'm well impressed with some of the things you said earlier in this thread. Fair play to ya mate. You are one of the biggest metal headz I know (or whatever it is, because I know about as much it, as Fat Fuk or whatever his name is, knows about dance/electronic).

    Plyd ;)

I just keep on impressing you, don't I?

But I think it's just down to the fact that people simply DON'T give me credit.
I mean, you've me labeled as a Metal Head, as do many others.
Not that I take any great offense to the term, it's just that I seem to be pidgeonholed.

A great example of this is Dustaz.
Generaly anytime I come on irc talking about ANY kind of music whatsoever, he alway's blurts DEATH METAL.
Which, I actualy do kinda take offense to.
Or any of those cheesy Manowar quotes I get flung at me.

Or pretty much whenever I mention stuff I like music wise, be it Black Metal/Doom/Goth/Industrial/Darkwave, people are always ignorant enough to think that I'm just being a fadge, and giving about 20 different discriptions for the same thing: METAL! Which most of it damn well ISN'T whatsoever.

And people always seem to go at me for using the term Black Metal, calling me a pidgeonholing fadge, and so on.
But of course, they don't realise that it's one of the FEW styles of Metal I actualy listen to at all.

But generaly, I could name off about a hundred bands that are nowhere NEAR Metal of any sort, but people will always shrug it off, and say it's metal.

    People are closed-minded ****ers.

I mean, you've me labeled as a Metal Head, as do many others.

Sorry dude, TBH the reason I call you this, is not to get under your skin, it's probably because I know so little about the music you are in to, I just call it all metal. It's blatant ignorance, but the most important thing I think should be mentioned to people like Fat Fuk is that, at least I'm admitting that.

I personally don't like metal (or whatever) music, but it's only music. Music is important to almost everyone, but it not life. People is life, and the two should't be so closely intertwined. I know you'll agree with that statement Ken, since you have made it clear you are sick and tired of being branded [whatever]. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I've noticed that some people have decided to dislike or judge people people based on their musical tastes. I can prove this because, on a similar thread, I posted a case scenario, and asked a question, with an A/B/C answer. Unfortunately some people said that they would discontinue talking to someone if they found out in mid conversation that the person they were talking to was in to a type of music that they disliked. So basically they thought the person was sound, got on fine, and turned their back on them once musical tastes were out in the open. This is a BIG social problem.

Thankfully my friends (whom are mostly metallers) appreciate my type of music, and have come to my dance gigs many times. Perhaps they don;t like my music, but they don't let it get in the way of friendship, because they know there is a lot more to life than music.

    Get it yet!

    ;-phobos-)

    Yeah, you ignorant ****!

To be honest, it's not the labeling that bothers me at all.
It's pretty much what you've done on this thread.
I mean, you being shocked that I had something other to say than "Grrr! METAL! RULES"

Not saying that *YOU* bother me.
Quite the opposite, you seem to be pretty open minded.
But it's the whole idea of what I "Should and shoundn't" be saying.
I mean, I'm glad I can impress you, and that I'm suprising people.
But at the same time, it slightly bothers me that people think of me in that sense.

Of course, I'm just having a bit of a rant here.
But would you do me a favor? Bit of an experiment.

Download some songs, and tell me if it's ANYTHING like the kind of stuff I'm pegged with:

Mesh - Because you didn't want me
Skinny Puppy - Assimilate (Chris Vrenna remix)
    Cruxshadows - Even Angels Fall
    Switchblade Symphony - Bad Trash
    Mortiis - Marshland
    Killing Miranda - Blood/Seed

Not saying get all these, but just give one or two a try, and tell me what you think.

Here's the link to that past thread: http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=42196

It turns out PornNapster was the only one with a shady responce when I look back. But eventhough there wasn't a mass response to that Q&A. I think at this point the two threads could merge and form some kind of (OMG, you don't mean) SUPERTHREAD!! ;)

    ;-phobos-)
PS: I remember starting that thread one night when I was drunk, and then thought to myself, Oh sh^t I've sparked a war. Afterwards I was glad I did, because a few interesting point came up.

I dont actually bother posting anymore but this is one of those times i just cant help it.I understand the way Fat Sunny doesnt like to dance music ,its kinda the same way i dont like him, we all have our opinions.I think this segment is a great idea,I love dance music but I feel this is goin to waste. There are some narrow minded people such as Fat Sunny who just dont understand cultural diversities. Not everybody is the same and not everybody likes the same thing.I have nothing against other types of music, I may not like them sure, then I just dont listen to them its as simple as that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,055 ✭✭✭suppafly

Exactly well said omen, if you don't like it don't listen to it and your not obliged to look at anything on this forum either if you hate it so much.

    It's Terrible!!
This is your opinion. Other people have just as valid an opinion as you.
How the **** did it get its own forum??!?!
It was requested on the admin board. In the same way, someone with your tase in music can request a Rock/Punk etc... forum.
All it is, is a few jack asses who push a few buttins and let their computers conjur up some mindless thudding sound that is custom built for 'E' heads!!
Please dont call me an 'e' taker. Im not and id appreciate it if you'd not publically call me a drug taker. Thanks.
Seriously, This forum should be abolished!
if you dont like it, dont look.

i cant believe there have been so many replies to this mentally challanged opinion of dance music! anyone who knows anything will know that this gimp is utterly clueless as to how dance music is (i) produced and (ii) mixed by djs.

this person is either a teenager struggling with hormones or a misguided adult seriously lacking sense. such naeive accusations of dance music shouldent have been credited with so many replies. fact.

Now now... hold on a minute there. I'm not saying anything about Dance music here because I know that its all down to opinions.

You my friend have stooped to Sunnys level as well as a few others.

First of all Heavy Metal is still very much alive. Its just out of the media focus. And there are more bands around now than ever. And Metal don't be putting any images on metal you ain't gonna back that up. (I do accept the fact that some of us are stereotypes but not all of us are).

Do NOT confuse Rock with Metal. They are two totally different genres. And don't say it ain't talented cos there ain't a hope in hell that you are going to back that up.

wooooo hooooooooooooo! go on the angelic whore ya good thing ; )

at the end of the day its all about not wanting to see depressed teenagers [or worse wannabe teenagers] rubbing and hitting random bits of dead tree and moaning about acne.

when i was into metal back in the day a good night out meant four pints of rotten beer and a fight in the toilets, and if you scored you d find out the next day she was either 14 or seriously emotionally retarded and covered in scary face paint.

when i discovered drum and bass.... well heres what i did last weekend: went along and got really stoned in bushy park then afterwards drove rickshaws around town. went to handels then voodoo sunday afternoon then handels then switch for bank holiday punk rock special which terminated in me djing drum and bass to a crowd of ratarsed strippers on the roof at Gubu over on capel street until about 10 in the morning followed by the chancery for more beers and then down to out on the liffey for a few more beers with these random estonian guys who were feeding us pills and buying us triple vodkas.... at which point it was decided we could just go straight up to the globalise resistance reclaim the streets party pausing briefly for some buckfast tonic wine and some weed. ended up at head of demonstration dancing like a nutter to ridiiiiiculously fast, tougher than even the toughest nails gabba. cue arrival of gentleman inexplicably dressed up as gimp in bondage truss. cue me spanking gimp in middle of street surrounded by sound system jugglers dogs nearly everybody i know, was followed round by cameras for greater part of the day in a really good kind of way!.... got clobbered by a cop as we were leaving it all got a bit scary but its all ok im cool my mate dave however had his picture in the herald having his balls punched by a guard [who had absent mindedly forgotten to put on his shoulder tags with id numbers on.... as they all had.]

    dance music more fun.
dance music more physically, mathematically, artistically diverse than dead tree music.
you'll score every once in a while.
youre mates dont look at you funny when you shower.
you will discover good parties. i used to think good parties only happened in the movies.
metal fans! teenagers! ever felt like youre missing out? youre being left out of life.... youre not you know.... normal? yip its true. ;)

ANGELWHORE PLEEEEEASE DISREGARD THAT POST IM TAKING THE P1SS

Don't worry, I discarded it the second it was posted.
Too many happy pills, eh tyranny? :D

Like I've said before, and will probably say many, many times again:
Nobody really has any idea what the hell I listen to.

I can't stand the whiney teenagers as much as the next guy.
And seriously despise being lumped in the same category.
    As you would imagine. :)

    Keep an open mind.

Personnally i used to listen to Everything and i mean everything, Hip Hop, Techno, Dance, Rock, Metal you name it i probably have a load of the CD's back at home from Carl Cox to Sepultura, I Dj'ed for a while, made dance music and just about anything inbetween and i have to say I have always prefered Rock/Metal/Punk music, its just a lot more human if you know what i mean, a lot more primal it awaken's feeling within it allows you to look at the world in a different light, While with Dance music you need to take a few pills to get the same reaction.
Nowadays the only stuff i come close to listening to in the dance category is stuff like DJ shadow and the likes.

    Bomb

You sir, are wrong. I don't have my own forum as i'm sure you can research. I also regard rock music as being much more skillful than dance music. Fiddlin with a guitar? Don't make me laugh. Why don't you actually try that for once and see how much skill you actually need to make something good come out of it. Holy ****. Think before you post will you? Decades after their hayday you have kids, yes thats right KIDS, still idolising the likes of Jimmy Paige, Jimi Hendrix, Clapton, Slash or Mark Knopfler. Do you honestly think that all these "UNTZ UNTZ" djs will be even remembered in 20 years time?

you are such an unrivalled idiot sunny,

"Fiddlin with a guitar? Don't make me laugh. Why don't you actually try that for once and see how much skill you actually need to make something good come out of it."

try using two turntables (or 3 or 4 like the best of the best) and a mixer like a djm600, full of effects, and see how much skill you actually need to make something good come out of it.

Holy ****. Think before you post will you?
