Right band, wrong song. It was actually from Rocket Queen - the song about the junkie hooker (at least that's what I always imagined it being about back when I was a kid). Man I must have had a ****ed up childhood to be thinkin **** like that!?!

    THE STARS SHINE ON
Some people say you are what you eat.
    In that case I'm nothing
cause I don't eat any vegetables,
    I don't eat any meat.
I'm as empty as an unused coffin.
    My thoughts are just reactions
out of touch with my emotions.
I'm as shallow as a puddle in the sun,
and my life is not appealing
cause I don't have any feelings.
I need to have a little bit of fun.
But when I walk alone at night
    and think about it all
in relation to the stars above- my troubles seem so small.
The nearest star is so far away
    and bigger then the sun,
    but I'm just one.
When I compare me to the galaxy
my troubled soul begins to see-
I'm a grain of sand on the biggest beach
and there are places my annoyances will never reach.
They don't affect the color of the Milky Way,
    they’re only really relevant today.
In a million years they'd have disappeared,
    and my tears and fears won't count any way;
    but the stars shine on.

    Last Goodbye by Jeff Buckley.
    Also:

    "I stare at the sky
    And it leaves me blind
    I close my eyes
    And this is yesterday."

    JOHN LENNON'S

    Imagine
    Love

the simplicity of each song is what makes it beautiful, and true.
I prefer Love over Imagine, but they both move me.

john lennon, most overrated musician in history.

I can't agree more with Bateman.

Jeff Buckley used to write some pretty damn good stuff.
And This Is Yesterday always makes me a little nostalgic (generally a lot of good songs on that album).

I could walk into this room
    and the waves of conversation
    are enough
    to knock you down
    in the undertow
    so alone
