Hope ur the right people for the job
Just a quick question baring in mind i dont know diddlie
    about webservers

Can i run Apache on a 98 box with a view to installing vbulletin ?
i Heard apachie is a good webserver so i picked that one but after downloading it for the 2nd time vs1.3.23 and 2.0 and installing it i cant get it to work (folders all install but then inside the files are not recognised ,no icons)

Ive also installed win installer, php3 and mysql ( if thats relevant at all )

Is this even the best way at all to set up vbulliten , its for an office
    board , just internel.

any help much appreciated , lost here

I run apache on my 98 box, so there's no reason why you couldn't. The binary to use is here:
    http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/binaries/win32/apache_1.3.24-win32-x86-no_src.exe
or http://www.apache.org/dist/httpd/binaries/win32/apache_1.3.24-win32-x86-no_src.msi (for smaller, MS Installer version)

It's a bit of self-service installation, ie you will have to do some configuration in text files to get it working ideally. Once installed, point your browser to
    file://c:\program files\(insert your apache dir here)\html\index.html
and follow the faq's/instructions in there. Best way to test your vbulletin setup then is to link yourself to
    http://127.0.0.1/vbulletin
or whatever, before setting it up on your intraweb. Apache and vbulletin come with very comprehensive, no-nonsense manuals, so it shouldn't be a bother.

Conversely gimme €50 and a cup of tea and some biccies and I'll do it for you (or attempt for free :))

    :)
