Best credit card account transfers?

    What is the score with being able to change credit cards
    to avail of a better deal. My current one is with one of
    the main banks. I know that all of the interest rates suck
    but what sort of sweetners are offered for transferring
    to a new card and what are the downsides?

    In my case I have a good credit history but have a
    bill I'd rather pay off in 3 months than 1mth at
    the moment.
